A packet of pasta is a pound odd which will make at least eight very good size portions. a pound odd for a cheap jar of pesto, two pounds for a sachet of pine nuts. Still cheaper than buying ready made.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi3

Italians always keep back some of the cooking water to add to the sauce, because the pasta cooks and absorbs after you drain it, unless you flash cool. If you are adding something like tomato sauce, loosen with a little of the cooking water if necessary. I'd stir in the mayonaise the following morning and top with salad then as well.
For winter. This is a camping basic.
If you ever get takeaways, those thick walled plastic oblong sealed containers like Satco recycling code 5 can be re-used to cook noodles. Place a 3-minute block in the container, pour over boiling water as high as possible, lid quickly and leave until the water level drops (90 secs), stir and recover for another 2 minutes. If it's cold, a teacloth below and above helps.
If you've got some de-frosting peas, drain and added when you stir or cook ahead and add. Drain (lift one corner) and add pesto, or soft cheese and olives. Chunks of cherry tomato are also good, as are nuts. I also make a puttanesca sauce which transports well, and stir that through. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing5 -
