Hi all
tried to enter a comp tonight and it was compulsory to tick the box subscribing to the news letter emails. I know I can just unsubscribe after but just wondering if that is actually legal?

It is legal in the UK. By ticking you freely give your consent. You have the option not to tick (and thus not enter the competition) and the option to tick and unsubscribe every time you receive an email. It is also legal for the promoter to pick a winner only from those still subscribed when the prize is drawn as long as this is stated in the T&C.0

I have a yahoo email just for competitions to stop all these newsletters and junk mail going into my regular email. You can scan the list, I get 200+ a day, and delete everything that doesn't indicate it's a winning email.picklepockle said:Hi all
