Everywhere I’ve worked the rules have always been about how many people can take leave at the same time. There will always be situations when one person comes back from leave as their colleague goes away. That’s perfectly normal and there’s really nothing to complain about. As others have said, handover is key. And, whatever you do, don’t think about work while you are off. Enjoy the break and pick up when you get back.1
