Has anyone else's skin got more sensitive as they get older?

I can not really wear any make up at all any more, used to wear full face every day and have given my teenage daughter all my high end stuff as it just makes my skin itchy and sore and my eyes weep. And then rashy and irritated for a few days after. Have tried with/out fragrance/SPF etc etc
I'm not seeking advice or a diagnosis here just wondered if it's a me thing or has happened to others as they've got older? I'm now 50 so hopefully still have a decent innings left, will just have to get used to my natural skin.
Thanks

I’ve always had sensitive skin, but it has stayed the same as I’ve got older, Not really noticed any difference either way.
i’ve never worn a full face of make-up though so whether the ingredients have changed or work differently, I can’t comment on.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
My skin's definitely changed as I've gotten older (heading for 50). The sun affects me more now than it ever did - I was never a sun worshipper, I always avoided the midday sun and wore sun lotion but I can come home now and sit in the garden after I finish work - around 1730 ish - and within minutes my skin prickles like it's burning.
I don't know what the answer is, but you're not alone.I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.2 -
Hmm, when I was a teenager I literally would pumice/biactol/clearasil it with no I'll effects, now I can't even use mascara or anything shimmery.
It's also dry for the first time ever, Im putting oil over the top of my skincare and it's still not enough.
Sorry @YoungBlueEyes that you have the same. It's rubbish (and wasteful too):eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20171 -

Ageing and the menopause have a lot to answer for!
Being well-informed is key.
My skin and hair have definitely changed, becoming drier and in my skin's case more sensitive, I now get 'prickly heat' rash. If you have previously had combination or oily skin, like me, this can be a challenge, however, despite suffering with spots as a teenager, I don't have many lines/wrinkles now.
On a personal level, as far as make-up is concerned, 'less is more' as you get older.
I've even got my husband using skincare, as he now suffers with rosacea.2 -
The dermatology article was quite interesting thank you
Nature was quite good to me as I have always had good skin. Never a spot and it wasn’t too dry or oily. I had my menopause in my early 40s and nothing changed much apart from the heaven of no monthly bleedingMy skin got a bit drier over the years but at 72 it’s still very good. I’ve never used a lot of makeup but a bit of foundation on the areas that need it is all I need. Big tip; I got some colour matched to my skin so it looks as if I’m not wearing any

I've found that I have to wear the bare minimum but it can make all the difference.
Colour is all important now. I can no longer wear lipstick to go with an outfit but need pinks and warm tones.
Same with specs which I now need. 20yrs ago I had colours. Now I'm looking at gold frames because it warms the skin.
Perhaps that's why so many old ladies wear gold ones 🤭I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
