Never-ending story

edited 30 May at 5:00PM in Debt free diaries
It’s been about 6 years since I last had a diary and a lot has changed during that time apart from still being in debt. So a quick rundown I work in education, I have three children who live with me and three who are adults and live elsewhere, my relationship broke down in 2020, my mom passed away 2 months later, my nan also passed away and I’ve had some health issues with no particular diagnosis but has got me feeling pretty rubbish at times. Mentally right now I’d say it’s the best I’ve ever felt which is fantastic but the debt is still a source of worry and I just need to get it gone and break this cycle.

Money is stable at the moment and I never miss a payment but come the middle of next year DD2 will turn 18 which will see a big reduction in money coming in. This might also impact housing depending on her plans for further education as I currently rent but that is something to think about when we know what she is doing.

The last few months I’ve really been trying to break those habits of buying things I don’t need and making sure everything has a budget. I hope starting another diary will help me to keep focused this time and although it seems like a long way off finally become debt free.

She’s currently at sixth form doing performing arts so she is hoping to go on to study it further, which will mean her living away from home.

Hopefully a NSD, I do have a shop coming later and need to get electric (hate meters) but that is planned. Have transferred grocery money into main account and took some from other as I bought some gifts for teachers ready for end of year.

Today I’ll mainly be watching the tennis, it has taken over much of my week but it’s been fantastic so far.

Need to look through some holiday clothes for my son and see what fits him, I bought lots of shorts and t-shirts about 2 years ago and they were still way too big last year so fingers crossed they do now and won’t need to purchase too much. DD3 however has outgrown everything, an order has been placed! DD2 has been buying her own clothes from her wages since she has been working which has been extremely helpful to my budget.

    To do list

    Take DD2 to work
    Tidy and hoover my bedroom
    Clean bathroom
A couple of loads of washing
    Put washing away
    Hoover upstairs
Check to see what still fits son for holiday

Breakfast - bagels, cereal, eggs, tomatoes & ham
Lunch - sandwiches, shake for me
Dinner - pasta, chicken & rice

Wow you've been through a lot in the last few years. Well done for having the mental clarity to tackle the debts as well. How are you tackling the debts? Are you using a snowball method or have something else to help you pay them down. Or are you able to just keep moving from 0% offers to another (they ran out for me eventually). Good luck with it all enjoy the rest of the weekend ☺️.

At the moment it’s just above minimum payments on the credit cards although £574 of TCC 2 and Argos will be gone towards the end of June. I’ve got a lot of things coming up in the next 3 months and then I’ll have to start saving for Christmas so I’m hoping come January/February I can start making bigger payments towards the cards. Have a lovely weekend.

Nice and sunny again today, will hopefully get some washing on the line!

Everything done on my to do list yesterday apart from mop the floors which I’ll do today.

Not back to work until tomorrow but had to get up to take DD2 to an appointment then drop off at sixth form.

Not a NSD today had to get some medication for DD3 £12.20, also got some shampoo, conditioner, hairspray and paracetamol but used points to pay for these. A few bits needed from Mr S used some nectar points so only £2.46 from grocery money used.

Sold 2 things on Vint@d £3.50, better than nothing. Never sold on there before, but no luck on the bay of e. After 3 weeks of relisting something with no takers I thought I’d give it a go, within an hour it was sold! Posted both of them this morning.

    To do list

    Load of washing
    Mop floors
    General tidy and clean
    Lunches for tomorrow
Watch tennis - highlight of the day!

    Meal plan

Breakfast - cereal, eggs, ham & tomatoes
Lunch - sandwich, bagel, shake for me
Dinner - curry, fish fingers (son)

Had a headache yesterday, hormonal rather than first day back at work I think so had an early night. Feeling much better today just very tired.

Did have few spends but all came from relevant pots.

Made some sales on vint@d over the last few days not sure where to allocate the money as all pots are looking rather bare most probably into clothes/uniform.

Had an early tea tonight as have an event later to watch DD2.

Loan came out on Monday now down to £10,917.75.
