Hi all

Can someone help me in regards to TAX CODE

I was just checking my Husbands Tax relief and thought i would check mine, and there seems to be some confusion

I left a job on 1/12/2024 and it is showing my tax code as K269X, i then started a new job on 09/01/2025 and my tax code says BRX and says i have been taxed 20% on all earnings as i have 2 jobs, i have never had 2 jobs, how do i resolve this and will i be getting a tax refund?

Probably simplest to call HMRC (8am sharp is recommended to avoid long waits).

Make sure you have your P45 from your old job and you can expect any refund for this tax year to be done via your wages once an updated tax code is issued.

Any refund for the prior tax year will be sorted later this summer and the money will come to you, not as a tax code adjustment.

It is quite common for HMRC to assume you have two jobs, rather than that you have changed jobs. It happened to me a couple of times.
Maybe they never were informed by your ex employer or it is just their admin error.

That admin task should be doable in your on line tax account.
