Thanks. Its for hosing but I don't know if I need to know about the protected characteristic as it's not directly linked to the job and I've never been asked it in my five positions within four companies but they do want to be inclusive and make sure you are pro gay, trans, religion such as Islam etc and want you to display pronouns etc
sounds like you have got a LOT of learning to do , even if it is  just to be able to keep your mouth shut and not display  your obvious ignorance of Inclusivity  , Equality and Equity

in housing  you  will be dealing with Protected Characteristics every single day, you will also be dealing with  prevention of   and protection from harassment  issues

I would suggest that you  do some  basic  background reading on housing stuff

Agree with the above, working for a Housing Association every interview for every post included an equalities question. Not just what it meant, what was covered, but also how this team could do it better.
Signature removed for peace of mind

Ahahaha I love the mums net type replies stating they must know every job and how every job is how they imagine it should be and to fit their bias. I will continue to let you think you know better and will continue to not tell you my department.  Savvy_Sue said:

That's your experience and it's not for all. Being asked how a team could do better in the type of job we do is just your experience in your department and your jobs. Nothing to do with what my department and skills set does.

But I will let you continue to think I'm in the wrong.

Because you  quite clearly are wrong

because people with experience in Housing  and/or Health and social care  obviously  don;t know  how these things work while you do.

the Reality is Social housing  / Housing Associations  even if you  were purely  on the tools  doing maintainance  is an area of practise where  Equality  and Inclusion are  have  significant  impact on day to day operations

I’d definitely research the Equality Act ahead of your interview! If you said at interview that someone working in Housing doesn’t need to know about protected characteristics you’d be unlikely to get the job.

Also basics such as “why should be give you the job”, “why are you the best candidate”, “tell me about a time you made a mistake” etc.. Focus on the differences between this role and your current one. You need to convince the panel that you can do it.
