Tax code mess for 24/25, what should I do?

I had the wrong tax code for most of 24/25, for two reasons:

Issue 1
Tax code was split across two incomes, my pension (419T) and an employer (711N).  The reality was that 99% of my income was from just one source, my pension.

Issue 2
My tax codes included marriage transfer allowance where I was transferring my allowance to my wife.  But my wife had no income at all for this period.  I want to cancel the transfer of allowance and be sure that for 24/25 it is corrected.

How should I go about correcting this?  Can I do it online or do I need to call HMRC?

HMRC will automatically check the tax paid for 2024-25 and refund anything overpaid*

*You haven't actually said you paid any tax but I'm assuming that is heat your concern is given you can never change a tax code once the tax year has ended.

I don't think the Marriage Allowance element is quite that straightforward.  Any cancelling done now would come into effect on 6 April 2026.

Could your wife use any of the Marriage Allowance tax credit or not?

There is no provision to cancel  transfer of marriage allowance for a previous year.

But. As you say your wife had no income in 24/25 she could transfer  part of her personal allowance - marriage transfer allowance- to you for 24/25.
That will bring your allowances back to £12570.
