SAUL flexible options?

I am approaching retirement and have a SAUL DB pension. It had never occurred to me to take any of it until I fully retired but I have read so many comments about the flexible options on NHS and USS pensions that I began to wonder whether I was missing something. I contacted a SAUL pension advisor who said that SAUL doesn't allow it at all. I have to retire completely from my post and stay away from my current university employer for at least 1 month before I could return and do casual hours for them. I was surprised at this. Has anyone on SAUL been told differently?  I am further dropping my hours to working 3 days a week from September. I don't know how long I will do that. Thanks

SAUL doesn't offer flexible retirement. See https://www.saul.org.uk/what-will-i-get-from-SAUL
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

This recent booklet seems to support jets you've been told.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Only asked because someone suggested I might be wrong so thought I would check.

With pensions it's always a good idea to check... I'm sorry we had to rain on your parade, though!

It doesn't matter. I was never planning to do it. It seemed better to adjust to living on a lower monthly income ready for when I fully retire. I just wondered because I came across so many people who were assuming they would need to start drawing on the pension if they reduced their working hours.
