Thanks for starting us off Gers. It's very wet here and due to carry on raining until noon. At least I won't have to water the garden!I've got someone coming at 9am to collect something I sold on Faceache for my DS and then I'll bake some rock cakes and strip the bed. Nothing else planned. It'll be too wet to go in the garden later tooHope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing x13

The greyness is turning into light greyness! There's a low mist over everything though the forecasted heavy rain hasn't appeared (perhaps 'yet'). I can't see the sea as it's shrouded too.The invigilation yesterday was fine. Both students used a laptop, had massive extra time but didn't use the time. One finished paper one (Higher Modern Studies) in 40 minutes, the other in an hour. Paper two was done even faster so I wasn't stuck there all afternoon.
I spent the 'free' time cutting off dead parts of my lovely Mary Berry rose at the back. I forgot to prune it properly when I did the front two. There were lots of stems with last years' hips. It really needs more attention this year.
This morning my only plan is to take away the big bag of recyclables, though if the rains come I won't be going out. I had some tentative thoughts about clearing out the small barn. I found a bag of my beloved late DM's Tupperware from the 60s which I haven't got round to deciding what to do with. I doubt that CS will want them, they have no commercial value and I can't remain attached to for emotional reasons. The bullet must be bitten soon.Take care all, hope that the wet weekend isn't too awful. Hugs to all.11 -
Good morning, its grey here, although it has been raining overnight.
Yesterdays trip to the vet was a success. The receptionist had got his dosage wrong, it was 4 tablets, but 4 the night before and 4 in the morning. They made him lethargic and sleepy, but he sat in the waiting room quite happily. Last year he didn't want to go into the vets. The vet was very understanding and talked to him all the time to gain his trust and made minimum contact. Unfortunately the booster is now administered in 2 parts so we have to go through it again next month.
No plans for today, big dogs meds are wearing off so the usual dog walking. Not sure what to have for tea but theres plenty in. Now to catch up on yesterday's thread.
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all who need them. Take care.11 -
Morning all.
I heard it raining in the night but it's stopped now. Definitely cooler out there today.
We're off on the train to London and have booked an official Houses of Parliament Tour. Taking DH's sister with us, who isn't quite so good at getting up early! After that we'll have a general stroll and see what she wants to do, although we plan to end up having cocktails on the rooftop bar at The Royal Opera House before coming home.
Tomorrow we'll let her rest and recover, although we have tickets for an evening concert.
I hope all the poodles are recovering and the weather perks up a bit for the BH.

@WL - the tour is really interesting! I had one years ago with an MP friend and learnt that every MP is allowed / expected to show constituents round if requested. You'll enjoy it. Your weekend sounds busy and entertaining.@Remmie - good news about tablets.@Chrisca - you making rock cakes took me right back to school domestic science lessons.
Unsophisticated, easy to make, hard to get wrong and so very very tasty!
I've had one coffee, two tablets and sent two emails. It's a good start.11 -
Morning All
Well, after 3 weeks of glorious dry and sunny weather it's raining. The garden and allotments will be happy, me not so! At least I got all the washing dried yesterday and the bedding went back on the bed.
Successful shopping trip yesterday, a couple of dresses may have fallen into my basket and I got some socks for the little one to match her school summer dresses.
Nothing much planned for today, feels strange not to be watering everything. Perhaps the inside of the house will get some attention!
Hope everyone has a good day, take care. XX10 -
Morning folks. Thanks GERS. I'm still groping my way around the laptop, on zoom. I am starting to feel very jaded now. Posting is still hit and miss but I can read along with your posts on my phone if I hold it up in the air with one eye shut!
We look to have had some overnight rain but not enough to do any good. I think it's supposed to be a rinse and repeat tonight. Fingers crossed it may be a bit heavier to save watering all the pots. I might venture down into town in a bit as one or two things I want from Boots and Savers.
Youngest DGD is on her way to Lourdes for the schools volunteering week (at great expense for parents!!) They were due at school for 3.00 this morning! Then coach to Birmingham airport ready for their flight. The other two both did the trip and loved it, despite some upsetting cases.. They didn't have to go as far as Birmingham for the flight though. DS is away too, a long w/e in Northumberland as an early birthday treat. A little place right on the beach which they go to quite regularly. The dog especially loves it, chasing up and down the beach but, strangely. avoiding the sea. We couldn't get our dogs out of the sea back in the day.
It's two years today since I lost my BFF. She knew me better than I know myself and I still miss my weekly meet ups with her. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. WL that sounds like a lovely day you have in store. Take care all xx

Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. We had much needed rain overnight with more promised for today. It's dry at the moment but it will be a cloudy day with intermittent showers and then more prolonged rain tonight. Highs of 19 and lows of 12. I think we're probably in for a shower any time now - the blackbirds are singing their "it's going to rain soon" song.
Yesterday's top-up shop at the Co-op was successful and their stock situation has improved, although there are still gaps in the freezers, the ready made sandwich section was completely empty and the wine cabinets are in dire need of a re-stock. This latter is very unusual, in that whatever they don't have, you can normally always get wine. Fortunately for me, I'm not a wine drinker!
I'm not sure what today's plans are but have a vast choice - everything seems to have taken a back seat of late for the decorating. Depending on what time DS gets here, it will either be carpet cleaning (in which case not a lot else will get done) or a trip to Wickes for radiator paint. Tea tonight will be chicken curry with egg fried rice.
Enjoy your day, I hope the wet weather doesn't put too much of a dampener on weekend plans. As usual, hugs where wanted or needed. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning everyone
I'm happy to be on half term holidays now, I seem to have had a busy week. We had rain through the night, but the sun is trying to come out now - forecast is for sunshine and showers for the net week.
DD and little one are away to the Metrocentre today to see a film, so I have the day to myself until she arrives later for a sleepover. Lots of little jobs to do, just as and when I feel like it. I bought some blackboard adhesive paper so I'm going to make her a big blackboard in the summer house - if it works!
Going to have a walk down to Lidl first to get some salad and perhaps some plants...I have lots of containers still to fill.
Wickedlady - I've always fancied doing one of those tours round parliament, it will be really interesting...enjoy.
Eldest DD has just been messaging to tell me she's booked to go to South Korea and Japan at the end of July.
Right, best move myself, hope everyone has a good day x10 -
