Lakeland compressor ice cream maker

Options
Just bought this. Very disappointed with the first recipe I made, from the booklet but with the addition of fruit. The condensed milk no beating recipe I previously made was much creamier and more delicious. Does anyone have one and is pleased with the results? If I can’t do better than this it’s going back!

    This?

Does the recipe in the book say to add fruit, or is that a change of your own devising?
Have you tried following the recipe as written, without any changes?

I would recommend trying a recipe from the book first before making any changes.

I used the strawberry recipe but used cherries instead. Proportions exactly the same. It’s more icy and less creamy, mainly because the recipe uses milk and whipping cream rather than the recipes used previously, which were all double cream. The texture is different.

Fair point, although I’m an experienced cook and was careful to keep the proportions exactly the same. Will give
    the vanilla a try

Yes, if it can't make vanilla there's definitely something off!

Cherries are a different texture & water content to strawberries.

So they are, which is why they were puréed and the same volume used. Thanks for your input

Tried the basic recipe today, not even vanilla but what they call “milk ice cream” Really didn’t like it, mainly the mouth feel, and texture, which reminded me of those powder ice creams which you used to get years ago. Very disappointed. I think it’s because I’m used to more creamy ice creams. I used a 20% off voucher to buy, but sadly it will be going back. At least Lakeland are good at customer service.
