****Sorry to clarify Wescot has advised it still awaits instruction from Link and  then made the offer in the same email, so it appears to be an offer made independently which is what's confusing me and am therefore unsure how to respond.

It looks to me like the situation is that Link are still to respond to your settlement and Wescot has acknowledged that they are also waiting for Link to respond.... but they are also chancing their arm that you'll take an offer in the meantime, so they can go back to Link and go "hey, we got him to pay it almost in full" and I assume they get some kind of commission for it.

I think you need to wait for Links response. I know it says 48 hours but in my experience of putting offers through it can take them a little longer if responding by snail mail.

Do you have access to your account online with Link? As recent offers I've made to them, they send an email saying the response is showing online in your account and then you go there and check. Admittedly I was making the offers to them through the website rather than by email or letter.

Wescott are managing the debt on behalf of link.

Link will give them certain leeway to accept settlement from you.

Your offer was outside of those parameters, so they had to refer back to their client.

Its possible the other offer from Wescott "crossed in the post" and came from another department within Wescott.

It's the Wescot aspect that is confusing me. How do I play this "offer" from it?
Its a poor offer, not close to what you can afford, so just ignore it

New development on this. I have received the attached letter from Wescot.

It advised my offer of £800 has been rejected but Link is prepared to accept £876.55

I'm probably going to pay it to end this and not return to monthly payments, which were my goals.

Before I do, is there anything else I should do to absolutely ensure Wescot or Link are unable pursue me any further?

In other words, anything else required from me to ensure all the doors are locked on this?

You have it agreed in writing they will not sell or pursue the remaining balance, which would be good enough for me.

If you can afford it, then pay it, but make certain you keep that letter, just in case.
