Well, I am so pleased with myself I had to come on here and share this in case it helps anyone.I had 6 old armchair seat cushions stored in the garage ( as you do!). In a couple of weeks i have 2 friends staying overnight and currently i have no spare bed. I discovered that 3 of the cushions laid end to end fit exactly in a single duvet cover and the duvet cover is almost exactly the width of 2 cushions side by side.
So….. I sewed 2 lines longways down the centre of an old single duvet cover ( in true OS I also had one of these!) about 6” apart. This created 2 long channels, which fit 3 cushions each . I now have a comfy floor-bed with a washable cover.
The flat area down the centre means the whole thing can be folded in half for storage, or to make a super comfy bed if there is just 1 person using it.
I am going to use it as a sunbed on the patio too, next time we have a heatwave.
I would have posted a pic, but Ive just lent it to my friend for her granddaughter to use next week, but here is a diagram.14 -
