    That could be eye-wateringly expensive.  Plus I can't see how the LGPS could easily identify those pensioners who could benefit by the back-dated amendments.  They would have to invite pensioners to put in a claim if they think they would qualify - leading to a tsnunami of claims from everyone, 'just in case'.  McCloud would be a stroll in the park compared to this!

    When the details of the new CARE scheme were first confirmed my then colleagues and I couldn't believe how generous it was.  We took bets then on how long it would take to water it down on the grounds of affordability.
