Apple Series 10 Watch

Anyone had a result from similar circumstance?

I have had my Series 8 for a few years now and would like a new watch. Series 10 is being sold at Apple Store for £399. The same one is for sale in John Lewis for £299 so I will buy from there. Does anyone know if I mention in an Apple Store, that JL across the road have it for £299 and I know it is in stock, are they likely to just say “go and buy it there then” or are they likely to offer me a deal? For some reason I’d like to buy it from an Apple Store but not at £100 more! I have double checked the specs and they are the same. Kingston has both store options. Asking before I try my luck.

Never had Apple off any form of price matching, they will remind you of the "benefits" of buying direct but thats it.  Even things like the Higher Education or Corporate discount wouldnt get an Apple Watch that much discount.

Certainly used to be that their own stores were as much marketing as a point of sale, may not be the case now that circa 35% of sales are direct with Apple

John Lewis it is then. I assume JL are jumping the gun for when the new series is released. Apple will no doubt reduce prices then as well.

Apple Watches are normally released in September so its a fairly heavy jump of the gun... suspect its more a temporary discount, they had Nest products heavily discounted for a couple of weeks then put them back to RRP.

So far Apple has only sold one generation of watch at a time, unlike phones where they persist the older generation non-pro at a lower price. So when the 11 gets launched the 10 will simply disappear from sale from Apple but third party retailers will continue to sell it at discounted prices.

They are good at stock management so tend to run it down just before the release, those left over not bought by third party retailers get used for warranty replacement or sold as "reconditioned" but its pot luck if you get a true reconditioned one or a brand new one... currently the Watch 9 is https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/refurbished/watch/apple-watch-series-9

See also Currys, Argos, AO, Very - all showing £299.

Currys may have a £50 trade-in for any smartwatch but it's not obvious.

    JL have 2 year guarantee?

That's a big difference in price.  The only issue I have ever found in not buying direct from Apple is if you have problems down the line; I have had excellent service on iPods/iPads way beyond what I would have expected (replacement items) when I bought direct.  When I bought from Amazon instead and the battery performance plummeted, Apple were not interested.  In the end I traded it in against a refurbished iPad from Apple.

I went John Lewis, especially with the two year guarantee. I did not look at trading in my Apple 8 watch. Set up not that easy but all done now and my emails, steps, health app are all working so I’m happy.

I’m absolutely gutted I missed this offer. They’re all back to £399 now.
