We moved house 6 months ago. The factors have been sending debt Collectors letters to the house we no longer live in. I’ve only just been given some Mail containing these letters.  The debt was £160 and is now £270. I’m happy to pay what I owe the factors however I’m not paying for admin charges which essentially the extra charges are. Am I able to do that? I can pay online today but £110 on charges seems extreme considering they knew I moved yet still sent letters to old address

Were you aware that there (could be) outstanding charges when you vacated the property?
Did you give a forwarding address to the factors?
Did you set up mail forwarding from the old address?

If the original £160 is a legit charge then IMHO you may bear some responsibility for the factors being unable to contact you and you being unable to pay the bill in a timely fashion.

You need to get the agreement of the factors that they will drop the additional charges. If you just pay part of the amount they are demanding, the difference will just be processed through their (no doubt) well-oiled debt system and the debt collectors will just keep adding to the outstanding amount.
