PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. SDLT Form - Only has one person's National Insurance number to fill in
Solicitor has sent us the SDLT form to sign, but there is only 1 person's NI number on the form. I've searched the government website and the guidance for the form, and this appears to be correct, but there doesn't appear to be any explanation why.
because as it tells you in the instructions, only the "lead" purchaser is required to provide an NI No so HMRC knows they are a real UK person with a unique ID that HMRC can check
if you can't decide who is "lead" between you then that is not HMRC's problem.
