Morning folks and thanks GERS. I'm back with you after my caravan jaunt. Other than a couple of days of cloud mid-week the weather has been lovely. So much pottering (and sitting in the sun reading) got done. It's been a lovely relaxing week. DD came Friday and we had a trip to Pateley Bridge for a browse and then lunch. We went to a lovely place with garden area at the back. It's one of the nicest tea room gardens we've been to, absolutely full of plants, comfy sofas etc. Plus lovely food. Perfect.
Sadly whilst there I got bad news from my DF about her DS. The biopsy showed it is definitely cancer, a very aggressive strain. So he is earmarked for surgery on the 26th. It will be a life changing op but they are confident of a successful outcome. So fingers are crossed.
We came home yesterday morning and I got all my bedding, towels and clothes washed and dried in record time. I had youngest DGD here for tea and sleepover as DD was going to see Bryan Adams at night and her DP was off to a function. She is still in the land of nod but breakfast is ready and waiting to go when she surfaces. I've not heard yet from DS about shopping but I hope it's on as the fridge is bare. As are f & v supplies. It's another glorious day with temps up to 23 deg forecast. I could easily get used to this lovely weather
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all xx

Morning all and welcome back to TA. Sounds like you had a super break but so sorry to hear the news about your friend's son.
The sun's shining here and I have some washing ready to hang out. Later I'll do the ironing and make some apricot flapjack. Dinner will be the remains of Friday's chicken and chickpea curry.
We had a super day in Battersea yesterday. Started with coffee in the Power Station and then discovered a great seating area on the old jetty which was where the coal was unloaded to keep the fires burning. We then walked around all 200 acres of Battersea Park and collected 14 geocaches en route. We had planned to have lunch at the nearby pub but it was heaving with people who had done some sort of run in the park and were celebrating their medals so we found a coffee/wine bar around the corner and had brunch. Home about 5pm and feet up on the sofa.
I hope the sun shines for everyone today.

Hi Gers,
It looks like it's going to be another lovely day. Chris, Crystal and Nate are off to Portugal today so I hope their weather is as good. We're a bit of a house of sickness atm, Laura spent yesterday in bed with a high temp, Brian is doing the man thing of moaning about his sniffle (bit unfair of me but true). Steve is also moaning, but about his blocked ears and both the children are under the weather.
I'll make a lemon drizzle today, I got a much reduced attachment for my kitchenaid mixer - it weighs and sifts ingredients into the bowl so hopefully it will work, I always get flour all over the place when I'm adding it to the mixer and don't get me started on when Laura does it, talk about a flour (or icing sugar blizzard.
I hope you all have a good day.13 -
Lovely to have you back @TA, I hope that your DS turns up for shopping. What a great day you had @WL, you brought a great visual image of the beast of Battersea. Sorry to hear that you're all feeling ill @Snoozer, and such awful news about your DF's DS. My fingers are crossed for a good outcome for him.Yesterday turned into a warm sunny day, can't say that it got hot though it was very pleasant. After my brief shopping trip I hung out the washing and then sat in the garden for a while. Not that I was particularly productive. The most I did was dehead a dandelion (I know...) and make a mental list of what needs done. Collecting detritus and cutting back the hydrangea which is climbing up the north facing wall, I need to keep the windows clear of it.That'll need someone to do the higher bits. The beautiful rose bush at the front has responded so well to the brutal pruning it had earlier this year. All the leaves are glossy and lots of buds are appearing already. Even it's runt sibling, which never took off well, is showing signs of becoming good. Both are either side of my front door, one has always been fab and the other weak.Today is an open book. I have nothing left to wash. I may resort to debobbling a jumper, I did a pair of woollen tights yesterday which was most satisfying.Hugs to all, especially our poorlies. I hope that the sun shines everywhere and on everybody.15

Morning All
Not so bright this morning but still fairly warm. The bedding is on the line and another load of assorted bits and bobs to go in the WM once I've had a shower.
I had the little one for a sleepover on Friday night, her Daddy picked her up yesterday after we had been to the allotment. She dug the holes for the beetroot plants to go in - they were about 4 foot deep! I must go back today to sort out her wiggly lines too. Yesterday afternoon was a 60th birthday bash for a friend I used to work with so lots of catching up was done and a lovely buffet and cake, although the birthday cake looked a bit gloopy on the top (think it was a mirror glaze) so I have sadly put it in the bin!
Glad you had a good time TA, sorry to hear of your DF's DS, hope all goes well with his treatment.
More gardening and allotmenting today so must get on. Take care. XX13 -
Morning everyone
Sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be another lovely day, not as hot as some of you but warm for the north east coast!
I was very productive yesterday, in between sessions of reading my book...I got the other rocking chair and small table built for the summer house and everything put into the new shed area...very tidily!
Today I'll move some new planters around...well I'll move them out of my downstairs loo where they've been since Homebase closed! I need to order a couple of new wooden planters too. Then I'll need plants...And more compost...
I didn't see little one yesterday as they went to a food festival at Tynemouth, she'd had a great time and joined in with a cookery class to make tomato pasta for her lunch. She managed 4 days at school last week and joined in with PE and swimming...she's doing so well at the minute, her new feeding plan is working well ( fingers crossed it continues now I've said that ). She's still really tired after the day at school and is in bed by six, but other than that she's managing well.
I've got a pile of ironing to do before I go down to mam and dads, then another afternoon in the garden.
It's nice to hear everyone is enjoying the sunshine. Hope you all have a good day today x13 -
Mornign all! Sunny! Woop! Fence painting, compost buying and allotmenting today. I have the fruit cage to sort out, clear some areas to walk in [ amazing how fast the grass grows when you don't want it to] and lay cardboard and tree mulch we picked up last week. It's pine and when it was in the car it was instant headache time, it was so strongly resinous. It won't be too bad working in there, it's mostly in the shade all day. We really are having some glorious weather though, who needs the Med when this is here? [apologies to those not having this glorious weather obviously - your time will come!]TA, well that's a bit on again off again etc. Fingers crosed it all goes smoothly for him from now on. Still carp news though. Gers, you just enjoy because if you have the time, you might as well enjoy all of the little bits.I know what you mean about the rose too. I have a little one that's never really got going until I got fed up with it and chopped it right down. It semed to get the idea then. snoozer, sounds like you need a real break for a bit..Izzy, how many new plants have you shoehorned in now?
I'm not telling you how many extra I have with nowhere to go...Nanny, hope all is well this weekend for you and you're both good! Ruby, well done on the plant stand. My sister got a metal one from there at least five years ago and it's still going strong. camelot, send her round ehre, I need some holes digging
WL, wow, Battersea sounds impressive and all that walking too, well done! Take care all!

Morning all, lovely and sunny today. We've been spending quite some time in the garden, and had a bbq for tea after getting a few bits after DGS football match.Their 'home' ground is close to a retail park so it's quite handy to nip there after a match. Yesterday the boys won through to the 1/4 final stage. Un fortunately we'll miss it due to our hols.Glad you had a good stay TA but sorry about DF son, hope it goes well for him.Dp1, happy to hear LO is doing well.Sorry about the poorlies Snoozer.I think I may need to get the hose out again, there are a couple of bushes on the banking at the back, an azalea and a lilac looking decidedly droopy. I was reading my kindle yesterday afternoon when a very loud noise startled me in next doors garden. She'd bought a leaf blower from a cheap site and was testing it out
She does get a bit obsessed with other peoples leaves but like I said to her we live in an area with lots of trees and it can't be helped.
There is a dog show at the local old hall today - we might have a walk up. Last year our dog food man had a stall so it'd be nice to see him, he'd been delivering to us for about 18 years. Some lamb steaks for tea, pizza for DS.Hope you all enjoy your day:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning allDishwasher emptied, garden watered, washing hung out, shopping delivery put away. Coffee time nowTA sorry to hear about your friend's DS. DH is down for an op to shave (that's the word the medics use) his prostate so he can pass water normally. Don't know how long the wait will be ujtil the op but will be on tenterhooks until results come back afterwards.Curry for dinner and a sit in the garden with my book. Long may the sun continue to shine but that wind is still quite cool and continues being a painHugs too those who need one and have a good day to all x11
