Understand that each event is just part of a predetermined sequence of triggers.

While you wait, get a lever arch file with dividers for each debt, store from default letter all communications.

The default letter will tell you that the Agreement has been terminated, it will say that interest will no longer be added and the name of who they sold the debt to.

Now that you have started this process the golden rule is DO NOT ENGAGE.

I did this for around £90k and did not pay a penny.

My original plan was to wait for 60% off but they took too long and so I decided to go for the 6 years.

Only one got a CCJ and it was for quite a small amount relatively speaking.

You might have seen High Court Enforcement Officers on TV and thought that they were what Bailiffs or Debt Collectors look like, if so forget that, the type of people that visit you are benign, still DO NOT ENGAGE, get a video doorbell and do not confirm anything, not even your name.  Just watch them and perhaps post the video on YouTube.

To be honest you are years away from anything like that, I have had so many threats of people will might plan expect to turn up, only ones I ever saw were real High Court Enforcement for a private debt and they got zero too.

 

if you want to speed up a default notice then drop them an email along the lines of

Dear Sir/Madam

RE:Account 12345

Unfortunately due to a drastic change in my financial circumstances that I cannot see changing in the foreseeable future I will not be making any further payments to the above account.
