@Screwdriva do you recommend the Powerwall solely for the Intelligent Flux tariff? I ask because Octopus have said they can do the same thing with the Enphase battery system (although it's seemingly a little small).

But I'm all for leveraging tariff rates with a battery that can discharge to the grid when it's expensive - do I need a Powerwall specifically to do that?

No, not solely (Enphase batteries also have access to this tariff).  That said, for less £, you get:

    1) 13.5kW of storage (vs. 5kW).
    2) Whole house backup with storm watch
    3) Upto 11.04 kWh grid discharge (vs. 3.2 kWh) <- this can make a substantial different on Intelligent Flux!
    4) Unmatched cold weather performance, reliability and safety record
    5) The gold standard of software/ app.

I have received an almost identical quote from octopus energy -£10280 for 8 panels+8 inverters+5kwh battery. We have a SW facing roof and live in Devon.  Screwdriva's reply is very interesting but does not say who would install it. Or is it that I need to find an installer locally?  Thanks

Feel free to DM me and I'll try to find you an installer. For 8 Eurener 500W panels and the Tesla PW3 (13.5kW), expect to pay between £10-10.5K. It's around £250 for every extra panel they can fit on your roof.
