Ethical meat

Options
Hi, I'm trying to find a shop that sells meat that has processed by using a mobile slaughter unit, I hate to see those animals being transported the way they are. I'm in the north east of England,  so Co Durham, North Yorkshire & Northumberland is my area,  thanks in advance.

Ask at your local butchers shops or find a farm shop that sells meat from its own farm and ask them about slaughter, I live in Sheffield and just googled and a local butchers comes up saying all their meat is produced and slaughtered within 30 miles of the shop.

This one here for example in your area, I am sure you could email and ask them about slaughter locations and travel.

No such thing as ethical meat - they are bred to be killed. Those of us that can't abide it choose not to eat meat.

Mankind has been eating meat ever since mankind existed.  Many vegetarians and especially vegans are short of iron and B12.  The human body cannot absorb iron from vegetable sources.  Source:  my Haematology lecturer

Whilst this is true its not why people eat meat, is it? The cruelty argument seems to be selective.

Iron absorption is less efficient from vegetable sources but that can be fixed with a side order of Vitamin C - frequently found in plant sources. Nature has its own remedies.

Agreed, this is where a good old-fashioned "local butcher" is priceless.   It's not a given, of course, but the smaller family-run establishments tend to "keep things local" - to keep their costs to a minimum, if nothing else.

Many years ago your local butcher had his own slaughterhouse.
Now unfortunately your local butcher has to have his animals driven many many miles to be slaughtered and returned to his shop.
    Sad but true
