Well lets see what happens! Lendable may well remove it without this going to the ombudsman, and the ombudsman usually would suggest some compensation, even if small, for an incorrect statement by customer services that caused a customer to repay a debt quickly. .

    I wasn’t up to date .

They sent the letter of default notice to a previous address .  The plan was to be up to date before I got issued with a default.

They issued a default , I complained . They compromised and said they’d remove within 30 days if I made payment outright - which I did.
A default notice is not required to mark an account as "in default" on a credit file.

    87 Need for default notice.

(1)Service of a notice on the debtor or hirer in accordance with section 88 (a “default notice ”) is necessary before the creditor or owner can become entitled, by reason of any breach by the debtor or hirer of a regulated agreement,—

    (a)to terminate the agreement, or

(b)to demand earlier payment of any sum, or

(c)to recover possession of any goods or land, or

(d)to treat any right conferred on the debtor or hirer by the agreement as terminated, restricted or deferred, or

    (e)to enforce any security.

That is according to the CCA 1974.

They were perfectly entitled to mark your account as in default regardless of where that letter went. It's a common misconception that default notices are related to defaults being marked on your credit file. Same name, different movement.

@WindowWasher1, so sorry to read this.  While see where posters saying that your credit file is factually correct are coming from,  the lender has indeed gone back on its word which is in writing! I'd deffo be pursuing this...subscribing to cheer you on.  Humdinger
