Are physical deeds etc still typically kept by the building society/bank or is it all electronic nowadays ?
Depends on which era you took out the mortgage, which nation the property is in, etc. If it's a registered title then unlikely the lender will be holding anything of particular value anyway.
Bought the house maybe 18 years ago and have been with this mortgage company for the last 10. Based in England.

Heading to the branch on Monday to get details/settlement etc so will ask about any documents and will come back and update.

    Thanks

    (edit)

    paid off yesterday.

received a communication to inform me that land registry would be be informed that the bank has no further interest in the property and that IF they hold any documents, then they will be in touch to ask me where to send them.

    Onwards and Upwards now 🍾
