Is shared ownership possible through only one partner?

Hi all, myself and my husband are currently living with family after our circumstances with renting changed. We are looking to get our own place, however at the moment I am not working as I am at home with our 18 month old son.
We are looking into shared ownership and feel this would be the best route for us as first time buyers, however, I wanted to know is it possible for my husband to get us a shared ownership home independently? He works a full time job slightly above minimum wage and has good credit, however I’m not sure if we would have to apply together as we are married and would the fact I am not working at the moment hold us back?
I am hoping to go back to work at some point in the next year or so, however we feel that it may be best for him to apply independently but not sure if we are able to do that being a married couple?

As a couple you would both need to be on the mortgage and HA tenancy.
Your husband would need to meet the affordability for the minimum share. Perhaps you could consider staircasing when you go back into employment?0
