Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone on here can help with my railcard renewal. I understand that anyone with a gold card can get a higher discount on their renewal and can do the same for others.

So, just checking if anyone on here can help with my renewal?

I used to do this with my Cineworld renewal for others, so I thought maybe it's a thing done for railcards.

Thanks all.

Don't you get a gold card because you bought an annual season ticket? You don't get an extra discount on top...

    Unless I've misunderstood the question?

If you have a Gold Card you can purchase a railcard at a discount by going to a ticket office. You can't do it online.

Ts and Cs say: "You can buy one discounted one year national or Network Railcard for £10, subject to the relevant eligibility criteria, during the validity of your Annual Gold Card for either Yourself or someone else"

No point in having a Network Railcard if you already have a Gold card.

No point for the cardholder themselves,, but you can buy a £10 Network Railcard for someone else.

I'd also appreciate it if anyone who has a gold card could drop me a private message as I'd like to buy a Railcard...

You can buy Railcard without the discount, and as long as you make even one or two journeys it will still save you money, full price

I think the discount is intended to allow you to discount the cost of a railcard that supports "companion" travel with the gold card holder (I.e. family and friends, two together, or network card for another, etc.).

But can be used selfishly, e.g. to get a senior railcard etc. Or get a network card on last day of gold card if not renewing.

I wonder how the "one additional card" restriction is enforced when purchasing at a staffed station
