I want an intelligent microwave oven!

When we were in the US recently, we came across a clever microwave oven which could 'measure' the weight and, when the appropriate food was selected, would then calculate the time needed for the cooking.

This was great for rice.

OH has now thought that we should have one of these but she can't remember the make. Can anyone help on this?

I presume you are talking about the Dimension 4 range of Panasonic Microwaves. These allowed you to plug in a weight and what the item was and it calculated the cooking time however it didn't have a weighing scale built in and I think that with what the OP is looking for?

We had a Panasonic bought in 1997 (Died last year) and you put the food in and told it what it was and it weighed it and calculated the cooking times.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Thanks. That's what we want! Don't suppose you can remember the model number or something to identify it online? Very few of the specifications seem to cover this point.

I'm off to Currys in a minute so may get help there (or not)!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, all the paperwork went out with it.

I had seen one in New Zealand in 1997 and had a bit of a job to get one over here. Finally managed to get one off a small independent supplier.

Cost me over £400 at the time. But I had my money's worth out of it.

My 20 year old Panasonic microwave does not need food to be weighed before you put it in, it has auto cook programes and works the weight out and adjusts cooking times. I didnt get thanked by the OP even though I knew what I was talking about.

I dont think they still do one like that though..it cost over £400 20 years ago

I managed to ferret around and found that 'auto weight cook' programmes and 'auto sensor cook' programmes are different things!

And the auto sensor ones cost the earth!
