VirginMoney BTL remortgage - quickest application route?

I'm looking to make a BTL remortgage application through VirginMoney which will include some additional borrowing (let to buy on current home), a little top slicing is needed hence going with VM. I called them today to complete the application to be told I would need to wait 6 weeks to speak one of their specialist BTL advisors to apply, as they're so behind on appointments. I have all the documents ready to package, have been over all the lending criteria and know the exact product. Mortgage and rental valuations already done, though I appreciate they may wish to repeat these themselves.
Would an application through a broker (albeit with a fee cost) be quicker? It seems like a no brainer as the application could be made relatively quickly, and their intermediaries website shows a turnaround of 10 working days and I'd be 6 weeks before I even got to that stage directly.

Than 6 weeks? Yes! You would have an offer by then I imagine.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. A Broker will do it much faster because they are available now. A six week wait is quite frankly a joke.
VM are quoting today an average 10 days to offer via a Broker.
Also, there are well over 2 dozen lenders who can top slice for affordability on BTL.I am a Mortgage Broker
