    Hello there everyone

    I would love to join.

I have a £56000 mortgage and have set myself a target of overpaying £310 a month to reduce the end date from 15 years to 7.5 years giving me a mortgage free date of 14/07/14.

I will be overpaying by £3720 a year - Overpayment for January will be paid at the end of the month so will update then.

    welcome LouiseJ:j

bellsbells - just had a look at post 1 and you've put me down as paying £75 off already. I don't think I've put that in any post therefore I'm concerned that somebody else has got £75 towards their target but you've put that against me and not them.

I'll update you on how I'm doing at the end of the month when I know how much I've got left to over pay

Sorry DP - not sure where that came from! If no one out there claims that £75 can I have it? :rotfl:

I think I will ask you all to PM me when you want to do an official update. I origionally said on the 5th of each month, but if you are all going to be paying money at different times it could be whenever you want in the month. Let me know whay you all think

  • Would be delighted join this thread!
Through lots of hard work we now owe £45500 and pay £1200 per month. Without anymore overpayments we will be mortgage free 08/2011. I want to be free at the latest on 1/11/2010 but hope to make it earlier. Really would like to be sub £30k this year. Am lucky as my wife is as keen as I to be mortgage free.
Our only real vices are house renovating but we keep costs down doing as much as possible ourselves.
    Good luck everyone!
    Current mortgage £45500 (Jan 08)
    2008 target: Sub £30k
    MF target: 1/11/2010

Can I join please :D , or perhaps I should just be an Associate Member as I don't have any numbers in mind. It just that I have just got my first mortage on 50% of a shared ownership of a little flat and wouldn't have been able to do that if I hadn't been saving for years. I'm on the Live on £4000 a year thread and with the rest of my income I want to buy furniture (I have the essentials but not enough to make a Nice Home), maybe decorate, fill an ISA, and overpay on my mortgage. :A

I think a PM is the best idea, it will certainly make you're life much easier.

I assume that us newbie's have the ability to both send and receive PM's? I know on some forum's it's restricted until you reach a certain number of posts.

Welcome Jay1 - of course you can join! I will put your target down as overpay as much as possible then it is totally open for you! Good luck with the £4000 a year challenge!

Just above the green banner that says main site, forum, User CP etc there is a white strip that says Welcome, Daft Pegasus - You last visited: It then says private messages in blue. Click on there and away you go - it tells you if you have any messages waiting for you etc. To send a message click on the name of the person you want to PM and it comes up with a list of things you can do, one of them being a PM.

I will send you a PM as a test!

Well done for finding the rightful owner of the £75!
