Remortgage timing

Hi all,
First time remortgaging and a little confused on when we should arrange timing for completion.
First time remortgaging and a little confused on when we should arrange timing for completion.
Our current fixed deal ends 31/08/25. We normally pay our usually monthly payment on 1st of each month.
As it stands, I’m expecting to need to overpay around £2k to get us into the relevant LTV bracket by 31/08/25. However if I remortgage 5 days later, and it has another months payment on, the overpayment is only around £800.
What am I missing? It seems obvious that to keep our overpayment to the minimum (which is our aim) I should just remortgage around 5th Sept.
Am I just kidding myself though, and the next mortgage payment with my new lender will be larger if I do this?
Thank
