Solar - Project Solar UK strong arm tactics

Hi all,

We have just had a visit from Project Solar UK, who though all started off friendly after 2 hours, it finished in way that felt more like a hostage negotiation.

We are all in for Solar, we want to get some panels and a battery and we don't really need to be sold on that aspect, we do however need to agree on the cost/time/reward debate.

Can someone with more experience in the arena advise on a couple of things,
1. Is it better to go local/independent or national/supplier installers?
2. He offered 12 panels, 8.6kw battery and an inverter (all with 'lifetime' guarentees) for the before I leave today price of £15,900 but if not today, £19,700. Is that reasonable? Is it even legal?

Would appreciate any assistance on this?

There are many horror stories of Project Solar on these boards.  Received wisdom suggests not to go near them.

These prices seem high to me (but I haven't checked recent prices).
More importantly anyone who tries to coerce you into a hasty decision with a 'today only' price is NEVER to be trusted.   If they can offer one price today then there is no reason why they can't offer it tomorrow.

    Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.

If you tell us where  you are, someone here may be able to suggest someone local to try.

They are a notoriously shady company. Their guarantees aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Intallers I use to help other forum members offer:

    12 X Eurener 500W bifacial panels (6kWp)
      1 X Tesla PW3 (13.5kW) with Gateway 2

~£11K full installed. Birdnetting, 10 year workmanship warranty all included. Hope this helps give your perspective - you can definitely do better!
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

Overpriced (very it would seem but we do not know detail) , would seem quote is not specific enough to know what you are being offered, pressurised selling ( as above could well be illegal), poor reputation of sellers.

Best to run a mile and get 3 recommended quotes for starters.....

But then it might be for an Installation on St Kilda.....ha ha
