Tax liability for interest on a shared account.

I have a shared savings account with my spouse. Do I only need to declare exactly half the annual interest for HMRC self assessment ?

    yes that is what you do - probably works  fine on a self assessment form - at least always has for me.

     last year however DH wrote to them with figures for "his half" and they managed to halve it again!
