Hello folks, I was down to my last 2 debts, and was able to pay one with a 75% discount with a well-known dca. It was roughly £600 and due to be statute barred in 2027, but I had previously admitted to it.
The same company have my final debt also, which is due to be statute barred next July ‘26. I have not admitted to this debt of £1400 and I’m trying to get a similar discount. I sent them an email saying that if they have any other accounts with me, I’d be receptive to negotiating a similar discount, but they’re playing dumb and I just don’t trust them.
Would I be stupid to be upfront and admit the debt? Is there another way I can get them to negotiate without admitting that it is mine? Or am I better just sitting tight and hope that they will come to me with an offer when it suits them?
thanks for any advice you may have.

I'd sit tight if I were you. You might get through the next year and it be statute barred. But they might also start making offers before then without you having to admit to anything.

I agree, i don't see any point doing anything that would acknowledge it until they start chasing it themselves.1
