wife of husband about to claim state pension

My friend's husband has claimed his pension from July this year. He is married but his wife is 10 years older. She has never claimed pension as she hardly worked and said she hadn't paid enough. I am not sure this is true, but could she not claim on her husbands national insurance and get 60% of his basic pension. I know this was the case years ago but not sure about now. I need a link to an official website to show them the info. I have looked but can't find any info. Thanks

Do you know for certain when she reached State Pension age?

    Before 6 April 2016 or after 5 April 2016?

Also, you don't necessarily have to pay NI to get qualifying years.  She could have been working and sanding enough to get some years even if she didn't pay any NI.

Are you saying that the wife is now 76 years old and reached SPA under the old system some sixteen years ago?

The husband reached SPA in the new system around nine months back?

    She should contact the DWP.
