out of date

just a little rant as nothing i can do now
normally when out shopping i check dates on any food i buy
this time i didnt check (i hold my hands up)
i was at asda and got there chocolate sponge puddings, after checking it when i got home its 11 yes correct eleven days out of date, how the heck is that still even on the shelf 
throw it away or worth eating, i dont think asda would want to know about it

    its use by date, the store is 5 miles each way , and the item was £2.34 so not cheap
    will give them a call

    quick update, ive called them and want me to keep the item in the fridge and bring it back for a exchange/refund
    i'm glad i kept the reciept

    Perhaps the new date code checking system isn’t working…….

    I have found OOD food on the shelf at Asda before (just a few days post BBE, I think it was dried cherries in the baking section). I took them to CS thinking they may be willing to sell them half-price to me, wrong. They were instead withdrawn from sale. If it was a use by date I'd agree but on dried / long-life goods there should be some flexibility.
