Replacing ready to serve indicator on old pressure cooker

I have an 40 year old prestige high dome pressure cooker. I need to replace the rubber ready to serve indicator as it doesn't fully seal.
I have a exact replacement one, purchased a number of years ago, but can't find out how to remove the old one and fit the new one.
Online searches have failed so I'm hoping the collective wisdom here will be able to help me. Thanks
