I had forgotten you are unable to work. If you sell your home where are you and your family going to live? You won't be able to get another mortgage without income.

Where are you going to live? As @kimwp said, it’s effectively just turning unsecured debt into secured debt.

I have sold my house bought a cheaper home and paid off the debt I am mortgage free and I was lucky to get significantly more than the asking price2
