Aldi misleading pricing

We bought a bottle of wine last week we thought was reduced from £8.99 to £4.99. The same reduction was shown on the electronic tag today and this comprised one tag divided into two, the right side showing £8.99 in black on white, and the left half showing £4.99 in white on red. On closer inspection there was some confusion over what the price actually was, so we called over an assistant. He deliberated and went hmm.. a few times before admitting it was confusing to him as well. It turned out the 'discounted' bottle was £8.99 and the £4.99 related to another product. Elsewhere we saw labels with the same division relating to a single discounted item. Why not have one tag per product? Our rather cynical view is that this is a new trap for the unwary that's arisen out of the use of electronic price tags.

I tend to go for the genuine mistake option rather than the “they’re trying to rip us off” option. Had similar in Asda where when the price changed someone had forgotten to change the price tag. It’s easily done. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
The electronic price labels seem to be less not more flexible than the old paper ones. I also find the smallest text on the tags quite hard to read without glasses.0
