I'd check out if any of the local hairdressers do private jobs. Lots do and will do the family as a job lot in a prearranged evening. Do that once every 2 months and you'll all still look great but save too.
Carry cash ! When you are spending *real* money from your purse rather than handing over a card it does make you think if you really want it when it comes to budget busting bits and bobs
I know your other half pays for things like utilities and insurances but if you are involved with arranging them it might be good to check out Quidco for savings on things like electric and gas suppliers so you get a lower tariff so a general saving -but also a cashback which will benefit you directly.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

As for petrol, well,as my children go to different schools I have to make 2 trips morning and afternoon as it is quite far for them to travel and I dont want them getting 3 buses.
Don't want to be picky, but if they're teenagers, maybe you should be letting them get buses to school? It helps them build their independence and otherwise they will be expecting you to drive them everywhere for their social lives too.....? Just my opinion - gained from experience. My DS's had a 14m journey each way to their 6th form college.0 -
Do you know if your husband has any surplus cash at the end of each month. It would be a shame if he is paying his side of the bills easily and has loads of spare cash and then theres you REALLY struggling.
Does he know what your circumstances are? It seems weird to me to both have separate accounts, but maybe it's just what you get used to.
All our money comes out the same pot, so if there is anything spare left over, we share it equally.
Maybe he could help you?0
