we are a family of 5 and find if we dont mealplan then yeah we can spend about 100 a week.
so we are normally 60 a week as i plan out what we are eating each day so only buy what we need for the week, we are even less when we have done a big shop in costco which lasts us a couple of months.

we are a family of 5 and i rarely go over £50. i always use tesco.com and always find a £5 code to give me free delivery. its a mix of value and own brand products and i find i only buy what i need rather than coming home with a trolley load of extras!!!!!. i always try to meal plan and cook from scratch. but we have some lovely meals.
eg tonight we had (all home made) thai chicken curry, bombay potatoes and chappatis..all really to make and cheap too. i cook in bulk and freeze too.
we tend not to have many puddings but treacle sponge and custard can be made for pennies.
i buy a lot of bogof offers too, so that can give more extras for the same cost.
there are lots of threads on here to give you ideas. check out BLACK SATURNS threads for inspiration.

We're a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids age 8 & 11 with big appetites), with 3 cats, 1 dog (boxer) & 1 rabbit, and spend on average £60 a week, (this has been reduced from £100-£120 p/wk) a year ago, and back then - most of it went in the bin if not used.
My shopping each week includes fresh items- meat, dairy, bread, fruit, veg, fridge items, store cupboard items, toiletries & pet food!
I look each week at what we have got in the cupboards, fridge, freezer, and see what meals I can make with what I have in. If I need any ingredients, it goes on the list.
I cook extra to make another meal for OH to take to work for his pack up!
Or to freeze (for those occasional days when you cant be bothered to cook)
I shop with a list (or rather OH does) and only carry a certain amount of money (thus not to encourage spending more money than necessary) If need be use a calculator next time your'e shopping, and judge your items/spending that way! Keep your receipt - so next time you shop, you will have a rough idea how much things cost. Perhaps go on-line before hand and get a rough idea of costs for the products you need! Once you get used to this, it will become part of every day life!
We have gone from Named/Labelled items to trying out Value foods. And to be honest (here's someone who's fussy), cant really tell a great difference. However, there are certain things I wont buy Value, (my own personal taste)
