OP, precisely nothing will come from you trying to kick up a fuss about this. Accept it and move on!1

Thanks all. I am grumpy but it seems I have no way forward on this. When I said default I meant miss payments etc so end up paying significant interest. Or maybe its just a ruse to get people in the shop when they have no intention of offering credit and decline everyone. I would be genuinely interested if anyone gets accepted for it.0

You may have a great "credit score" and have never missed a payment and have no CCJs etc but maybe you have too much credit available. That's why I get turned down. There's no way on my current income that I could pay even the minimum on all my cards if I maxed them all out. So no new card deals for me!!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Going forward I see it as;
1. Purchase using your own saved funds.
2. Go elsewhere and buy a cheaper sofa.
3. If your credit score is so good apply for a credit card offering x months of interest free shopping (won't be 3 years).
4. Forget the complaint you won't win - they have declined you - so what just move on with your life.

Yorkiek said:Thanks all, I wasnt sure what to expect from the Ombudsman but I am not hopeful now. I now have a hard search on my credit file courtesy of Next and they dont even have the good grace to tell me why I was declined. I have a 999 out of 999 with Experian and when I spoke to them they said they knew no reason why I was declined by Next who use them.
@Nasqueron I do use credit regularly, spend on credit card then pay in full monthly, have a mobile contract, on Electoral Roll, No CCJs, etc, etc
