Help! Owed money by HMRC

Hello! I paid a lump sum into my pension at the end of the 2024/25 tax year, using redundancy money.
I was banking on a rapid tax rebate from HMRC (previously they have paid my tax refunds within 7 days).
It is now 14 days on and, although HMRC have written to confirm they owe me a large rebate, no money has gone into my account.
Is anyone else waiting on an HMRC tax rebate? Is there anything I can do to speed up the payment?
I urgently need this money back to pay my mortgage and bills etc. It is getting increasingly stressful.

Past few years I was taxed without any personal allowance and had to reapply for my personal allowance. This last time it took them between August and November to resolve and pay me.I even posted on here for advice and in the end I completed an online complaint form and a very nice lady rang me a couple of days later she personally over saw the calculation and made the payment into my bank account promptly and I also received £55 compensationThe greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0

It took nine months for my tax to come back when I paid a lump sum into my sipp. I complained and that took a couple of months to resolve but it did result in the matter being dealt with. I would try the chat thing. I find its better earlier in the day. Type the word adviser in the box and eventually it will put you through to a human. Have your name address date of birth and national insurance number typed so you can copy and paste it in when you get through to a human.2

A response in 7 days is unusually fast these days.1 -
I recently had to back claim for a marriage allowance transfer. They acknowledged this but it took months and numerous phone calls. I was lucky in the end as I ended up talking to someone who could actually do this. It took him maybe 30 seconds and I had my money in a couple of days.
HMRC seem happy for their agents to spend hours on the phone messing people around rather than under a minute to fix the problem.

I wonder if this is taking longer than previous tax refunds because (a) it's a pension contribution and (b) it was made using redundancy money? Neither of those thoughts will help speed things up, but might explain why it is taking a while.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Possibly the self-assessment route may be quicker? My wife finished work part way through the last year, but HMRC would not give a tax refund until she had done SA (despite just having a single job and no other income).
Submitted the self-assessment on 9th April and tax refund received in the bank on the 17th.0
