Hi all,

What are peoples experiences like recently applying directly with Yorkshire Building Society? 

We are currently remortgaging and they are offering the best product on the market. However the broker we was going to use said their application process is quite painful/paper based - however not sure if they’re just trying to put us off going direct.

YBS are brilliant. It's not paper based at all and they have some of the best rates in my opinion. Their in house brokers will go through the application with you on the phone, then you email in your docs.

I applied directly a few years ago and they approved it in 3 days and emailed/called when they wanted more info. I just did a product switch with them and it's all online and painless.

Your broker is telling porkies probably because he can't apply for YBS as it's for direct clients only.

I have two mortgage products with YBS, we did the first in 2017 and that was a bit of a faff if I recall. We extended the borrowing when we moved house in 2021 and the process was really smooth. Customer service is good and the online account is alright, you can see your mortgage balance and transactions but can’t do much online.
