Missold car finance & IVA

So in 2 days time I have finished my IVA but on Friday last week I got an email from my IVA company saying they are using a company to see if I have any car finance that was mis-sold, now what I dont understand is am at the end of my IVA, how can they claim back money once it is finished as the earliest any money will be released is January next year after the December deadline. Am looking for advice if this is true can they take money even after I have finished my IVA. I have a 6 month admin period where they clear everything and send a certificate but that's October even after that I am completely finished.

My assumption is that for the purpose of an IVA these commission claims are just like PPI claims were. (None of these commission claims have yet been settled so there is no specific evidence but I think PPI is a good comparison.)

There was a court case about 10 years ago that determined that an IVA firm can claim PPI refunds after an IVA has terminated. I think that was stopped with more recent IVAs that use the 2021 IVA Protocol which closed the loophole that allowed this, but it seems likely that your IVA used an older Protocol where this may be possible. 

In any case, as you dont yet have your completion certificate, your IVA firm could choose to withhold this if you dont agree to them making this claim and taking the money (if there is any money, won't be clear until the end of the year.)

So I dont think you can challenge this.
