    Happy New Year everyone!

    2025 is finally in the past. I was looking forward for the year to end, it was a horrible year for me from start to finish, though the past two weeks have been pretty peaceful, and, looking at the photos from the year, there was a fair amount of fantastic time as well, so cannot complain really. Grateful for my family and friends as always. I'm off work until Monday and working through my dissertation so it's nice to have only one thing on my mind now, even though it doesn't feel like time off at all!

    Not much to update today, but the direct debits are now taken. I added some extra money here and there to zero the balances, now waiting on a payday to get it down more.

    Progress

    • Save £10k in emergency fund: £830 -- no change
    • Get mortgage down to £150,000: £158,300 £158,000

    I'm aiming for a similar goal to you @RedLipstick to get my mortgage down to £150k. I'm slightly higher than you at the mo though at around £161k.

    I was also looking forward to the year ending wasn't the best one for me either. 🥂 Here's to the next one being better for us both!
    Emergency Fund goal - £1000/2000
    Mortgage OP goal 2026 - £1200/£4500
    Read 24 books this year 12/24

    I have just caught up on your diary @RedLipstick and it sounds like you are doing so well. Lots I can relate to and I will be following along.
    It must be a real relief to have the renovation work complete for now. I hope you’ve had a lovely start to the year in your new and improved flat and that your sister is recovering well.

    Well done, it sounds like you've got some good strategies and the cash budgeting has been a success for you :) keep at it

     Debt = £8017/£8017 (100% paid - cleared 26th August 2020) Boiler Fund = £2500/£2500 (100% saved - 26th August 2021)Emergency fund = £5000/£5000 (100% saved - 5th Jan 2025) | MFW Goal 2025: £6429/£3000 | Mortgage  = £88,102/£132,469 (33% paid)

    Goal for 2026:
