New rules for claiming tax refunds via an agent

I thought this was interesting, HMRC have been taking some steps to try to protect taxpayers from unscrupulous agents.

Though it’s only a matter of time before someone grumbles about it!

    It appears to be a very small step in the right direction, but realistically it is about time we found a way to ban these " tax refund" companies or make them liable for the same amount of any false claims, as well as claims management companies. Whilst I do think that many people pay a self inflicted idiot tax I dislike the predatory practices and the parasitic way some/many of these companies operate.
