HR Manager CC'ing my manager in every email

Hello all

I have recently noticed that the HR manager has started CCing my manager into every email she sends me, regardless of what the email says. For info, I sit between HR & Finance as I run Payroll, the Finance Manager is my line manager.

There has been no issues with me that I am aware of & no issues with performance or ability - unless there are things I haven't been made aware of.

I first noticed when she replied to one of my emails (which was a reply to hers) when I saw my manager CC'd in. I looked back to the original email & saw she'd been CC'd in to the original email but I'd pressed "CTRL" & "R".

I looked back & she has been doing it for the last couple of weeks.

Now no one has said anything about this but am I wrong in thinking this is odd?

I want to ask why this is being done but don't want it to go against me in any way.

I don't think anyone here could have a clue, and random guesswork is all you're going to get by way of 'answers'!

Why do you think it would 'go against you' to ask? Perhaps you could phrase it along the lines of 'I see that xx has been happening in recent weeks. Just double checking if I too should be copying in yy on all correspondence - don't want to add to their inbox unnecessarily'.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

It may have nothing to do with you; it may be that HR has been accused of not doing their job properly, or your line manager says they have not been made aware of stuff they should have been. Don't worry about it as long as they are not cc to inappropriate people or in emails about stuff personal to you and HR

If the emails to HR are staff related, as presumably they are, many may be directly relevant to your line manager.  That being the case HR would need to involve them.

Depends what the contents of the emails are?

If its inviting you to the pub then cc'ing your boss in would be a bit odd.

If its asking you to do an urgent task then your manager knowing you are being dumped on, and potentially allocating someone else if you are holibobs or such
