Private pension deductions help

Options
Our late mother's private pension company failed to pay her pension for 18 months prior to her death. She unfortunately had dementia and didn't realise this. The company advised her next of kin, my brother, after her death. They then paid the outstanding amount but at an emergency tax rate. HMRC said we need the breakdown of her deductions to see what the correct tax amount should be. We have tried countless times to request this information but the pension company are not giving us this, nor did they send a p60. Is there any law that supports us demanding the deductions breakdown so we can claim the tax back. Its their fault we're in this position because of their failure to pay her the pension when she was alive. Would really appreciate any help. Many thanks.

If she left a will, one of the executors (or if she died intestate, whoever applied for letters of administration) needs to make a formal complaint using the pension company's complaints procedure, which should be on their website, and/or on correspondence from them. If it isn't shown, ask the company for details.

Before you do that, have you spoken to them and asked why this information hasn't been provided? Using contact forms or sending emails can sometimes be a frustrating business if they appear to have been ignored - but sometimes for whatever reason they quite simply aren't being received.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
