Old 118 Card - defaulted in 2024 but not paid since 2020

Options
Hi all,

I had an old 118 Card (yes I know) back in the days when I was very debt spendy. I have been looking at my credit files lately so am uncovering this old horror.

Bit of a weird one when I check the data on my file.

Opened: Jan 19 - payments listed from April 19 to Mar 2020. Then 4 missed payments, then lots of no data, then missed payments April May June 2024, then default 5th July 2024. I have just tried to login to the online account but it comes up with an error message and says to call customer services.

Any thoughts on how best to proceed?

I will pay it off if I need to of course. But any other steps I can take - perhaps around that 2024 default as most of my defaults are from 2020 and will drop off next year but this one will linger painfully longer...if I stopped paying it in 2020 why was it not defaulted then and why did they never pursue me?

I wonder if the account has been sold on and that is why I cannot log on but again weird that there is no contact.

I never hear from them which is why I had forgotten it existed

Thanks

Not every bad debt gets chased, some just go delinquent, its a question only the lender can answer.

At some point you may be contacted, wait and see, it will drop off your file after 6 years regardless.

Ok I am going to have to chase them up as I don't want it hanging around there need to get rid! I am hoping to apply for a mortgage in the next couple of years so think I just need to get rid of. The recent default has annoyed me but nothing I can do about it I guess :(

    The mystery deepens....

I checked my transunion file and can no longer see this card on there. I am sure it was on there and defaulted as this is the main one I check on the regular. Can't see it on live or closed now?

My equifax shows the card as a closed account. 3 x missed payments listed for last year. But then a balance of 0 listed updated July 24? Can't see any mention of a default.

No idea what is going on now I will wait and see!
