I'd read that it is not as simple as a year for a year. But initially this was my feeling - that buying these back will be cheaper than future years.DRS1 said:OK but could you not say the same about 06/7 and 08/9? Both are a lot cheaper than any future years are likely to be (unless she becomes self employed).0 -

If you post up the following from your forecast then that amount can be clarified.Number of full NI years 15-16 and earlier
Number of full NI years 16-17 and later
Any COPE amount. If you have "You've been in a contracted-out pension scheme" on your forecast then click
here https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/check-your-state-pension/account/cope whilst logged into your tax accountYou currently need (18.8) 19 years to reach the max. Worst case is those 3 years take you to £119.18 so needing another (16.1) 17 years to reach the max or 16 leaves you 90p short.

Not showing 3 years from around 2000 on when you were 16/17/18 ? No NI history before you were 27 ish ?So with only 4 (or even maybe 7) your starting amount is old rules so those pre 2016 years only give £5.65.0

I may be wrong but if you work while abroad (having worked in the UK before you left) you may qualify to pay Class 2 NICs for the time you work abroad. I think there may be a form you need to fill in to make sure DWP agree.0
