I've contacted Lowell who have confirmed the last payment I made to SSE was on 24/04/18 and there was defaults made on this account. It looks like me making payments to Lowell have cancelled out any opportunity to claim statute barred as I live in England. Thank you for the help
If your last payment was on 24/04/18, then it became statute barred last April, unless you have made payment since that date, have you?

What do you mean by "and there was defaults made on this account" ?

I have made payments to Lowell for this account in Nov and December 2024 as I was not aware of the statute barred option.

I have contacted Lowell on advice from this forum regarding the SSE debt to ask when the last payment made to SSE was and inquire about any defaults and the response I received was:

We can confirm the last payment made to SSE Retail was for £29.00 on the 24/04/2018.

Please be aware there is no default registered against this account.

    Sse Retail?

Was this for something other than household gas/electricity?

I think you do have an argument that this is statute barred if you fancy telling them that you are not paying because of this.

It may take a court to sort it out if Lowell diagree

No, this was for gas and electricity at a property I lived at.
I will contact them and argue the point. I am aware the debt is my fault and should be paid but feels frustrating to miss out of the statue barred on all 3 of the debts due to payments of £10 made per account with them on 3 occasions only a few months prior to them all being statue barred

I think they are going to say that the SB clock never started ticking because the account was never defaulted.

There must have been a pont that a court would consider the 'cause of action' and there is probably some case law on it somewhere.

    Anyway, see what they say
